A/N: Now that things have settled down fic-exchange wise, I’ve finally had time for The Drow Chronicles. I will try my hardest not to get distracted by anything shiny until this is done.
“I’m sorry, what were you saying?”
Locien hoped that no one noticed his sudden dizzy spells. They had been happening more frequently lately, and he would notice hours at a time were missing. Severus had obviously just asked him something, a concerned look on his face.
“Are you sure everything is all right?”
“Oh, yes, of course.”
Seemingly they had been playing Wizard’s Chess, and Severus seemed to be waiting for him to make his move. Severus and Remus didn’t know what to do with him when he came to visit, so a game or five helped fill the time.
The silence of their game was interrupted by Remus’ arrival. The werewolf had been guarding Kingsley and looked worn out.
“Good game?” he asked as he kissed Severus, then walked into the kitchen.
Severus’ eyes beamed slightly, but the rest of his features didn’t betray his emotions. Locien was glad that they were getting along again. The pair never talked about their problems, but it was obvious they were no longer fighting.
Locien had overheard Remus confiding in Harry that he felt betrayed that Severus didn’t trust him enough to be honest with him. The only other thing he had heard was a whispered “practicing Dark Arts”, which somehow didn’t surprise him. It was a branch of magic he used to be very familiar with. Sometimes, late night, he would wake from dreams filled with unimaginable power.

Harry was looking at him strangely. After their first kiss, they had barely touched. Locien picked at his breakfast, wondering if he should give in to the urge to pick a fight, just to have some attention. Ever since the week before, things had gotten colder between them.
Locien had found himself locked in the bathroom, sitting on the floor. He had no memory of waking up that day, let alone spending the day in the small space. He found Harry waiting for him out in the hallway, only asking him if everything was ok.
His thoughts were interrupted by one of the Daily Prophet owls swooping into the kitchen and dropping the newspaper in Harry’s lap.
Beneath the headline, there were several blurry photos of Locien and Harry kissing.
“Why that little bitch!” Harry screamed as he ran his hand through his hair. “I told Hermione not to let her free.”
Locien took the paper from Harry, wincing as he saw the other headline of the day.
