Totally behind on lj stuff from the past week. I owe comments and reading time and more.

(1) Woke up with a sore throat today that hasn't escalated to a full cold, so I'm taking lots of echinacea.

(2) DH and I celebrated our 13-year anniversary last Thursday ^_^

(3) Saw Avatar this weekend. It was really stunning visually, but beyond the weak and unsubtle plot, I don't enjoy watching war movies. I love action movies, because the individuals involved choose that kind of life. With war you don't have any choices.

(4) My "y" key seems to be sticking.

(5) The netbook I got for xmas is awesome. It's a 10-inch Acer AspireOne and it fits in my purse. Plus the battery lasts for 9 hours. If you're looking to get a netbook, I highly recommend this one.

(6) DH and I just booked a weeklong vacation this weekend to El Salvador! I've never been that far south before, and I'm really looking forward to it!

(7) My critique group ripped apart another (original) short story last week - and they liked it! I've got some good feedback on how to improve it before I start submitting it.

How are you all doing?

I think I've posted more today than I usually do in a month.

This post is brought to you by the incredibleness of "Slumdog Millionaire".

Holy fuck is it a fantastic movie. I seriously can't remember the last time I was this captivated. It was sweet and nerve-wracking and funny and incredibly sad at moments and invoked just about every emotion possible.

The acting was terrific. The settings in India were eye-opening. The storyline (which is usually what trips me up) was flawless.

It really is as good as everyone says it did and truly deserves to win an oscar.

My write-up sucks ^_^ Just go see the movie!

Summary: The story of the life of an impoverished Indian teen Jamal Malik, who becomes a contestant on the Hindi version of "Who Wants to be A Millionaire?", wins, and is then suspected of cheating.
